Google's 'Interland' Game Makes Online Safety Education Fun

Just in time for summer interruption, a new initiative from Google aims to teach kids in a fun fashion how to stay safety online.

The Web giant on Tuesday introduced Be Internet Awesome, a site that teaches kids "the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety" similar being careful almost what they share online, how to spot scams and protect their privacy, and the importance of being respectful of others on the Web. Kids can head over to the Be Internet Awesome site and journey to a place chosen "Interland," where they'll "embark on a quest to become a fearless explorer of the online globe."

The Interland game is free and spider web-based so its attainable to everyone.

"In this imaginary world of four lands, kids combat hackers, phishers, oversharers and bullies, practicing the skills they demand to be expert digital citizens," Google'southward Vice President of Engineering science for kids and families, Pavni Diwanji, wrote in a Tuesday blog post.

Google developed Be Cyberspace Awesome in collaboration with online safety experts like the Family Online Condom Institute, the Net Keep Prophylactic Coalition, and ConnectSafely. Equally part of the intitiative, Google besides released a classroom curriculum to help educators teach kids how to stay prophylactic online, plus a YouTube video series to help parents start a conversation about this topic.
